Kolkata, the cultural capital of India is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of North East India. This metropolitan is also known as “the City of Joy” and the “City of Mother Teresa”. It was the gateway of India, through which, the East India Company came and conquered the whole of India. Kolkata was the Capital of India for a long time. Dr. William Carey the father of modern missions worked in and around Kolkata in 19th century. Though Kolkata has a great heritage, it is a fact that the Churches have not grown here. The Christian population is only 0.64 % in West Bengal.

In 2007, the Lord brought Pastor Finny Parayil and Mrs. Sajini Finny to Kolkata as the Pastor-in-charge of Indian Pentecostal Church of God, Kolkata Prayer Center. Where they ministered for six years and gave leadership for the ministry of IPC in Kolkata city.

And in 2012 December with a special guidance of God, he started a small weekly prayer group on every Sunday evening in the rented house of Br. Viswas Abraham at Mukundapur. Here a few brothers and sisters who were working as staff nurse in different Hospitals in nearby areas, assembled regularly for prayer and Bible study.

In May 2013 Pastor Finny Parayil and family decided to leave the responsibility of IPC Kolkata Prayer Center according to the direction of God, and he moved to Mukundapur for ministry. When Pastor Nibu John who had a ministry in Mukundupur, left for Kerala, his rented house was taken over and the few people who gathered with him joined with this fellowship.

The Church, initiated and founded by Pastor Finny Parayil, was named Kolkata Christian Assembly (KCA). The first Sunday Worship Service started on 7th July 2013 at Mukundapur. As Pastor Finny Parayil is an ordained Minister of India Pentecostal Church of God, it became associated with the India Pentecostal Church of God. Now the Church is situated at 36A, Vivekananda Park, Mukundapur, Kolkata 700099 in a rented building.
